Mobile Repair Factory in Padstow repairs every iPhone 16 series model, from the standard 16 to the Pro Max. Most screen, battery, back glass and port jobs are finished during a single visit. The quiet drop on the way to the car is the one you replay all afternoon.
Maybe the phone no longer lasts the day, or the back glass turned to a web of cracks after a slip at the shops. Whatever the damage to the device, you get a diagnosis and a clear quote before any work starts. Most repairs are done while you wait, so cracked screens rarely cost you more than one trip.
One thing speeds up the quote more than anything else: know which of the five models you own before you walk in. The two Pro models take different parts, so the model decides what goes on the bench. Bring the phone in as it is, even if it will not switch on, because the diagnosis is where the real answer about cost and time starts.
Key Takeaways
- All five models in the range are fixed on the spot in most cases, from screens to ports.
- Pro and Pro Max phones take different display and camera parts from the standard models.
- A clear quote follows a diagnosis and comes before any work begins.
- The part grade you pick should match how long you plan to keep the phone.
- Water damage is urgent: a board cleaned the same day is usually saved.
- Australian Consumer Law protects you on top of any shop warranty.
iPhone 16 Series Repairs in Padstow: What We Fix and for Which Models
Every fault that can be fixed by swapping a component on an iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro, 16 Pro Max or 16e is handled at the Padstow workshop. The part fitted depends on the exact model, because the Pro phones use different displays and camera modules from the standard 16. That is why iPhone 16 series repairs at Mobile Repair Factory start with a model check, not a parts bin.
The iPhone Pro and iPhone Pro Max versions of the 16 take their own display assembly and camera module, so a part ordered for the wrong model does not fit. A display assembly is the front glass, touch layer and OLED panel fitted together as one unit, which is what a screen replacement swaps rather than the glass alone. The 16e sits apart from the other four, and its parts are its own as well.

Repairs Carried Out on Every Model in the Range
The iPhone repairs that walk through the door most often fall into six groups, and all five models get the same service for each one.
- Screen replacement for cracked glass, dead touch and black displays
- Back glass replacement, with or without the camera window
- Battery replacement when health has dropped or the cell has swollen
- Camera and Camera Control button repairs
- USB-C charging port, speaker and microphone repairs
- Water damage assessment and board cleaning
iPhone 16 series repairs near you in Padstow cover walk-in customers from Revesby, Panania, Padstow Heights, Riverwood and the rest of the Bankstown area. iPhone 16 series repairs in Sydney do not have to mean a trip to the CBD or an Apple Store, because the same faults are handled locally in Padstow. A repair that takes a parts order is still quoted at the counter on the day.
Identifying Which iPhone 16 You Own
Three checks tell you the model. Open Settings > General > About and tap the Model Number field, which switches from the part code to the A-number. The same number is printed inside the USB-C port, so a torch gives the answer when the phone is dead.
Screen size is the quick tell between the two standard phones: the iPhone 16 has a 6.1-inch screen and the iPhone 16 Plus a 6.7-inch screen. From the front, though, the 16 and the 16 Pro look nearly the same. That resemblance is where most wasted visits begin.
Never book a Pro screen for a standard 16 on looks alone, because a part that has to be re-ordered wastes the whole visit.
Write the number down before you leave home, since the port is hard to read under shop lighting. If the model number field shows A3081, A3286, A3287 or A3288, you own the standard iPhone 16 and the standard display assembly is the part you need.
How Repairable Is the iPhone 16?
The iPhone 16 series ranks among the most repairable iPhones Apple has built, and that shapes how fast and how cheaply a fault can be fixed. The phone opens from either side: the screen or the back glass. Its repairability score was only finalised once replacement parts became available from Apple, which shows how closely design and supply are judged together.
Where older iPhones had to be opened from the front for every job, the 16 lets the technician go straight to the back. That spares the display connector and the front sensors from being handled during a rear repair at all. Repairability is about the hardware design, not the parts supply, so a repair is only as quick as the part on the shelf.

Repair Assistant is Apple’s on-device tool that pairs a newly fitted genuine Apple part to the phone after the repair. Testing of Repair Assistant on iPhone 16 models was seamless, and a smooth pairing matters for a same-day job. A pairing that stalls is a device that sits on the bench while you wait in the shop.
Stock for your exact model decides timing more than the design does. Repairs on the 16e wait on 16e parts, however simple the opening is. A phone that opens from both sides is a phone where a cracked back no longer puts the display at risk, which is the single biggest change for anyone weighing up a rear glass repair.
Screen Replacement for Cracked and Unresponsive Displays
A single drop can crack the Ceramic Shield glass, kill a strip of touch response or black out a phone that still rings. All three are fixed the same way: by fitting a new display assembly. The iPhone 16 display is a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED at 2556 x 1179 pixels and 460 ppi, and nothing in that stack comes apart cleanly.
A screen replacement on the 16 swaps glass, touch layer and OLED panel together, never one layer on its own. The same rule applies to the larger 6.7-inch assembly, and an iPhone 16 Plus screen repair follows identical steps. Cracked screens and dead touch are one job from the technician’s side.

Signs the Display Assembly Needs Replacing
Not every fault that looks like a screen fault needs a new assembly, and the usual cause behind each symptom points to the fix.
| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Spiderweb cracks across the glass | Impact fracture of the Ceramic Shield layer | Display assembly replacement |
| Black screen while the phone vibrates or rings | OLED panel or connector damage | Display assembly replacement after a connector check |
| Ghost touches or dead strips | Touch layer damage | Display assembly replacement |
| Green or pink vertical lines | Panel damage from impact | Display assembly replacement |
| Dim or flickering image | Panel or flex cable fault | Cable reseat first, then assembly if needed |
A dim or flickering image is the one case worth a cable reseat first, because a flex cable that has worked loose costs nothing to push back. Everything else in that list ends in the same replacement. A screen that rings but shows nothing is often the connector, so that check comes before the quote.
What a Screen Replacement Involves
The job runs in six stages. The technician checks touch, Face ID and the connectors, opens the phone from the screen side and removes the damaged assembly. The new assembly goes in, gets calibrated and tested for touch response, brightness and Face ID, and the frame is resealed with new adhesive.
The cost to replace the screen on an iPhone Pro moves with the model and the part grade, because the Pro and Pro Max take a different display assembly from the 16 and 16 Plus. A screen repair on a phone with a bent frame is a separate matter. A bent frame cannot take a new assembly cleanly, so frame damage is quoted on its own.
Test the new screen yourself before you leave by swiping every corner and unlocking with Face ID. That handover check is when any issue is easiest to sort.
Back Glass Replacement on the iPhone 16 Series
On the iPhone 16 series the back glass is replaced as its own job, without touching the display, because the phone opens from the rear. In AppleCare terms the Ceramic Shield back is called back glass and the Ceramic Shield display is called screen. So a claim or quote for the rear panel is a back glass claim, not a screen claim.
A cracked back matters beyond looks. Sharp edges catch your fingers, loose shards sit near the camera, and the broken seal lets dust and moisture in. iPhone 16 back glass replacement cost depends on whether the camera lens cover is cracked as well, on the model, and on the part grade you choose.

Two scenarios cover almost every rear repair. If the glass is cracked but the camera window is intact, the job is a rear panel swap. If the cracks run into the camera window, the quote adds a lens cover to the panel.
The standard iPhone 16 has matte back glass with a vertical two-camera bump and a separate camera window, so the window can break on its own. Pro models use a different rear panel, which is why the model changes the price. The worst move is putting a case over a shattered back and leaving it, because the case grinds glass dust into the camera area and turns a one-part job into two.
Photograph the rear before you bring it in. The technician can then see whether the crack started at the corner or at the camera window, which decides whether the lens cover is part of the quote.
Battery Replacement When Health Drops
A battery health reading under 80% on an iPhone 16 is the point at which a new battery pays for itself. The 3561 mAh cell that once gave up to 22 hours of video no longer holds what the phone expects. Under AppleCare+ Apple replaces the battery at no extra charge once capacity drops below 80%, so that figure is the usual threshold for a replacement.
The reading sits under Settings > Battery > Battery Health, and it is the first number to check. Before you book a battery replacement, open Settings > Battery and look at which apps drain the most, because a rogue app looks exactly like a bad battery. Performance drops from software clear up with an update, not a new cell.

Five signs point to the battery rather than the software.
- A maximum capacity reading below 80%
- Sudden shutdowns while the phone still shows more than 10% charge
- The phone running warm during light use such as messaging
- Slow charging that gets worse from week to week
- A back glass that lifts slightly, which means a swelling cell needing attention the same day
Batteries that swell are the one case with a hard rule: do not charge the phone again before the visit. A swollen cell under charge heats further and can split, so leave it off and bring it in. For every other sign, the phone can stay in normal use until your appointment.
Charge the phone to about 50% before you come in. A cell that is neither flat nor full is the safest state for removal.
Camera, Charging Port and Speaker Repairs
A rear camera that shakes in the viewfinder after a drop is the most common non-screen fault on the iPhone 16 series. It is a module swap rather than a whole-phone problem. The optical stabilisation inside the 48 MP main camera is a tiny moving part, and a knock is enough to unseat it.
The same service covers the 12 MP ultra wide camera, the 12 MP front camera, the port and every speaker. Each of these faults is fixed by replacing one part, and the device never needs a full rebuild to get there. The options below show which part is at fault for each symptom.

Rear Camera, Front Camera and the Camera Control Button
A blurry or shaking rear camera means the stabilisation module has failed and needs a new one. A black camera preview points to a dead module or a loose connector, which the technician checks first. A cracked lens cover is fixed on its own, without touching the camera beneath it.
The Camera Control button on the lower right edge combines a physical press with capacitive touch. A button that clicks but no longer responds to a light touch usually has a failed capacitive layer rather than a broken switch. That repair swaps the button assembly, not the frame.
USB-C Charging Port Faults
The port is USB-C with USB 2.0 data up to 480 Mb/s, used for charging and DisplayPort output. A port that only charges at one angle, holds the cable loosely, or charges but will not transfer data is a port repair. Do one check first: clean lint from the port with a wooden toothpick, because about a quarter of “broken port” phones only need that.
A port that stopped working right after a liquid spill is not a port swap. That is a water damage case, and swapping the part without cleaning the board wastes the new part. The technician will ask how the fault started before quoting.
Speakers, Earpiece and Microphones
Muffled calls point to the earpiece, no ringtone to the loudspeaker, and callers who cannot hear you to a microphone. One test separates a hardware fault from a settings fault: record a voice memo and play it back through the speaker. If the memo is clear, the fault sits in the app or the Bluetooth settings, not the parts.
Try a different cable and charger before booking a port repair. A worn cable mimics a failing port almost perfectly.
Water Damage: What Can Be Saved
An IP68 rating protects a new, sealed iPhone 16 against fresh water. It does not protect against the pool, the surf at Cronulla or a phone that has already had its screen replaced. The rating covers fresh water immersion under test conditions when the seals are new, not salt water, pool chemicals or an opened phone.
Corrosion starts within hours once liquid reaches the logic board, so the first 24 hours decide most outcomes. A phone brought in that day is usually a clean and a part. A phone brought in later is a gamble, and no repairer can promise the device will come back.

Five steps in the first hour give the phone its best chance.
- Power the phone off and do not charge it
- Do not put it in rice, which does nothing for internal corrosion and leaves starch in the port
- Dry the outside and the port opening with a soft cloth
- Bring it in the same day
- Back up later, not now, because connecting a wet phone to a computer can short the port
A water damage assessment opens the phone and cleans corrosion from the board and connectors. The technician checks the battery, then replaces any component that failed during testing. That order matters, because a new part fitted to a corroded board fails again within weeks.
A phone that still works after a dunk can fail weeks later as corrosion spreads under the shields. A clean-out is worth doing even when the phone seems fine. Treat any liquid contact as urgent, because a board cleaned the same day is a repair and a board cleaned a fortnight later is often a replacement.
What Affects the Cost of an iPhone 16 Repair
Three things set the price of an iPhone 16 repair: the grade of part you choose, which of the five models you own, and whether the drop broke one component or two. Every other factor is small next to those three. The quote is always confirmed at the counter after the phone has been inspected, not over the phone.
Even Apple works this way. In November 2026, Apple’s estimates for out-of-warranty iPhone repairs in Australia may be subject to tax, a shipping fee may apply if the device is sent in, and the final service fee is set only after inspection. A price given over the phone is an estimate, and the firm number comes only after the technician has seen the phone.

Part Grade and Model
iPhone 16 series repairs price rises with the part grade, since a genuine Apple part costs more than an aftermarket part for the same fault. It also rises with the model, because the iPhone Pro and Pro Max displays and camera modules are different parts from the standard phones. Quality parts cost more to buy in, and that gap shows in the quote.
The pattern is familiar from older models. A guide to cost-effective repairs on the 13, 14 and 15 series shows the same gap between Apple pricing and independent pricing on those phones. Those figures belong to older models, not the 16, but the shape of the pricing is the same.
Extent of the Damage
iPhone 16 series repairs cost climbs when one impact has damaged two things: a screen plus a frame, back glass plus a lens cover, or a port plus liquid corrosion. The quote covers each component separately, so you can decline one. Fees for a second part are never folded into the first.
Choosing the cheapest screen for a phone you plan to keep for two more years is the common mistake. The dearer part would outlast the phone, and the cheap one may need doing again. Match the grade to how long you will own the phone, not to the lowest number on the quote.
How a Quote Is Confirmed
iPhone 16 series repairs cost near you in Padstow is confirmed at the counter after inspection, before any work starts. If the technician finds further damage mid-repair, they stop and ask before adding to it. Nothing is fitted that you have not agreed to.
Ask for the quote split by component. A split quote lets you fix the screen today and leave a cosmetic back glass crack for another visit.
Turnaround Times: Most Repairs Done on the Spot
You can expect to walk out of Mobile Repair Factory with your iPhone 16 fixed in the same visit for screens, batteries, back glass, cameras and ports. Those are component swaps with no diagnosis to wait on. The jobs that run longer are the ones where the fault is not yet known.
Apple itself says service options can vary by parts availability and location, and every workshop works under the same constraint. A repair that needs a diagnosis, such as water damage or a phone that will not power on, always takes longer than a straight component swap. Availability of the part for your exact model is the other thing that changes the timing.

| Repair | Usually finished in the same visit | What can extend it |
|---|---|---|
| Screen replacement | Yes | Part for your exact model not in stock |
| Battery replacement | Yes | Swollen cell needing extra care |
| Back glass replacement | Yes | Cracked camera window adding a second part |
| Camera or port replacement | Yes | Hidden board damage found on inspection |
| Water damage treatment | No, assessment first | Corrosion spread and parts that fail during testing |
A call ahead to confirm the part for your model is on the shelf turns a possible second visit into a single one. That is the one practical move that beats any appointment. The Pro and Pro Max parts are the ones most worth confirming, because the standard 16 parts move fastest and are restocked most often.
A phone that will not power on cannot be quoted or timed until it is opened. Water damage and dead-phone cases are the two jobs where you should plan to leave the phone, since nobody can honestly time a repair before the board has been seen.
Genuine Apple, OEM-Grade and Aftermarket Parts Compared
The right part grade for a phone you plan to keep for years is a genuine Apple part. The right grade for a phone you will trade in within a year is a good aftermarket part. Everything between those two cases comes down to how much the exact factory match matters to you.
Apple’s own repair equipment may contain new or previously used genuine Apple parts that have been tested and passed Apple’s functional requirements, so “genuine” does not always mean factory-new. A non-genuine display or battery shows an “Unknown Part” note under Settings > General > About > Parts and Service History, and that note affects nothing but the label and the resale conversation. The screen itself works the same either way.
| Part grade | Colour and brightness match | Parts and Service History note | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Genuine Apple part | Identical to factory | Shows as genuine after pairing | Phones kept long term or resold |
| OEM-grade OLED | Very close to factory | May show Unknown Part | Everyday use at a lower price |
| Aftermarket | Good but not identical, slightly lower peak brightness | Shows Unknown Part | A phone due for trade-in soon |
| Refurbished genuine panel | Factory panel restored | Shows as genuine when paired | The lowest-waste choice |
Quality parts at a serious workshop means parts tested on the bench before fitting, not bought on price alone. Mobile Repair Factory tests every display for touch and brightness before it goes near a phone. A part that fails that test goes back to the supplier, never into your device.
An aftermarket screen is the wrong choice for a Pro model if you rely on the display’s peak brightness outdoors. The options narrow to genuine or OEM-grade for anyone who reads the screen in full sun. Ask to see the Parts and Service History screen after the repair, because that is where a genuine part proves itself.
Apple Repair vs an Independent Repairer in Padstow
Apple’s one-year Limited Warranty does not cover a cracked screen, a shattered back or a worn battery. For the three most common iPhone 16 faults, the choice between Apple and an independent repairer comes down to parts, price and time rather than coverage. The rule is simple: Apple for a manufacturing defect or an AppleCare+ claim, a local shop for accidental damage you want fixed today.
In November 2026 Apple guarantees its repair service and replacement parts for 90 days or the remaining term of the Apple warranty, whichever is longer. Only repairs performed by Apple or an Apple Authorised Service Provider are covered by Apple’s Limited Warranty and AppleCare plans. An independent repairer’s work is not backed by Apple unless required by law, which is why Mobile Repair Factory backs its iPhone repairs with its own warranty.
| Point | Apple or authorised provider | Independent repairer |
|---|---|---|
| Who covers the repair | Apple’s 90-day or remaining-warranty guarantee | The repairer’s own warranty |
| Accidental damage inside year one | Paid unless AppleCare+ | Paid |
| AppleCare+ fee | Same at Apple and every authorised provider | Not applicable |
| Same-visit repair | Depends on parts and location, mail-in available | Most component swaps same visit |
| Effect on Apple’s warranty | Unchanged | Apple’s warranty no longer covers the repaired part |
Apple’s services include mail-in repair with a pre-paid postage box and no appointment. AppleCare+ can even ship a replacement iPhone before you send yours back. Those options suit someone who can spare the phone for the post, not someone who needs it for work tomorrow.
A cracked screen is accidental damage, so Apple’s one-year warranty does not pay for it either way. That removes the main reason to wait for an Apple appointment. Keep your AppleCare+ plan in mind before you choose, because a plan that covers drops and spills is worth using at Apple for that one fault and saving the independent repairer for the rest.
Your Rights Under Australian Consumer Law
A repair that fails because of the workmanship must be fixed free under the Australian Consumer Law, whatever period a shop prints on its receipt. The consumer guarantees apply to the service you paid for, not just the part. They sit on top of any shop warranty.
These guarantees cannot be signed away by a condition on a receipt, so a line that says “no returns” or “all repairs final” changes nothing. A business that repairs a product or fixes a service with a minor problem must do so for free under the consumer guarantees. That rule covers a screen that lifts a week after the job as much as it covers a new kettle.
Four guarantees matter most for a phone repair.
- A minor fault in the repair work is fixed free
- A repairer must tell you that stored data may be lost and that refurbished products or parts may be used
- A minor problem not fixed within a reasonable time can be fixed elsewhere, and you can claim back the reasonable cost
- A major problem lets you cancel and be refunded for the part of the service not delivered, or keep the work at a lower price
A major problem with a repair means the device comes back with a fault that cannot be fixed. It also means a repair so far from what was agreed that you would never have accepted it. A screen fitted in the wrong colour, or a battery that was never replaced, both fall into that group.
If a repairer refuses to act on any of these, contact NSW Fair Trading. The warranty a shop offers is a bonus, not a limit on what the law gives you. Damage caused by the repair itself is the shop’s problem, not yours.
Keep the itemised receipt and any photos of the phone before the job. A reimbursement claim for a repair done elsewhere rests on showing what was agreed.
Apple Self Service Repair: Who It Suits
Apple Self Service Repair lets you buy the same genuine Apple parts a workshop fits. It is built for people who already know their way around a heat mat and a pentalobe driver. The programme is intended for people with the knowledge and experience to repair electronic devices, and not for a first attempt on a phone you need tomorrow.
The programme gives genuine parts, tool kits and the repair manual for your exact model, all for out-of-warranty repairs. Most people are better served by a workshop, because adhesive and the display connector give no second chance on an iPhone 16. A DIY screen is a workable job for someone who has done one before and a bad job for someone who has not.
The programme asks for three things in return. In November 2026 genuine parts come through Apple’s repair store or a Genuine Parts Distributor, and certain purchases require the device serial number or IMEI. After the repair you may need a post-repair step using Repair Assistant or System Configuration, as set out in the manual.
Replaced parts from a Self Service Repair can be returned for refurbishment or recycling, and some returns receive credit. The risks of a home job are not small: a guide to iPhone 15 screen repair lists damage to internal components, data loss and warranty issues as the usual outcomes. The option makes sense only when you have done the job before.
Never attempt a DIY battery replacement on a cell that is swollen or punctured. Price the tool kit and your own time before ordering a part, because for a single repair the kit alone can cost more than having the job done.
Why Padstow Customers Choose Mobile Repair Factory
The fairest test of a repairer is whether the technician who quotes your phone is the one who will fix it, and at Mobile Repair Factory that is how every job runs. The same person sees the damage, writes the quote and does the work. Nothing gets lost in handover between a front desk and a back room.
A shop that quotes a firm price without looking at the phone is a shop to be cautious of, because the honest answer always follows an inspection. That single check sorts serious workshops from the rest faster than any review score. The five checks below work on any repairer, not only this one.
- How many years they have worked on iPhones: Mobile Repair Factory has more than 15 years of hands-on repair experience
- What customers say in public reviews: the shop holds a very good rating on its Google Business Profile, which you can read before you visit
- Whether parts are tested before fitting: quality parts, bench-tested, go into every job
- Whether a written quote comes before the work: it does, every time
- Whether the repair carries the shop’s own warranty: it does
Most iPhone repairs are done on the spot, and the same service runs for tablets. The shop is also the place to find iPad screen repair near you for iPad Pro, Air, standard and Mini models. You can book online for either, or walk in.
Read the most recent reviews rather than the oldest. They show how the shop handles a job that did not go to plan.
Booking Your iPhone 16 Repair in Padstow
A backup tonight and a walk-in tomorrow is the whole process for most iPhone 16 repairs at 87 Gibson Avenue. You can book online for a set time or simply arrive, and most repairs are completed on the spot. The one thing to do before either is a full backup.
Most hardware repairs do not intentionally erase data, but a damaged device always carries some data risk. Back up to iCloud or a computer the night before, because a phone that would not switch on is the one you cannot back up at the counter. Find My iPhone can stay on for a screen or battery job, and the technician will ask before any step that needs the passcode.
- Back up to iCloud or a computer the night before
- Note your model from Settings > General > About
- Book online or walk in to 87 Gibson Avenue, Padstow
- Bring the phone, your charger cable if the fault involves charging, and your passcode ready in case unlocked testing is needed
- Run the handover check for cameras, sound and the port at the counter before you leave
You can watch the unlocked test instead of sharing the passcode, and the technician will offer that first. The appointment runs the same way whether you booked or walked in: inspection, quote, then the repair. Gibson Avenue is a short drive from Padstow station and the Padstow shops, so a drop-in fits around errands.
Switch off Stolen Device Protection and any Screen Time restrictions before the visit if you can, because both can block the tests that prove the repair worked.
The service at the front counter starts with a look at the phone, not a form. Leave your charger cable at home unless the port is the problem, because a known-good cable is the one piece of evidence the technician needs for a charging fault.
Conclusion
Your iPhone 16 is one of the easiest iPhones to repair, and the quickest route back to a working phone in south-west Sydney is a walk-in quote in Padstow. For accidental damage on any model in the range, a local repairer with the right part on the shelf gets the phone back to you the same day. That holds for a screen, a battery, a back glass or a camera.
The second decision is the part grade, and it should match how long you intend to keep the phone. A phone you will keep for years deserves a genuine part, and a phone headed for trade-in does not need one. The parts that fit your model are the only ones worth paying for.
Book online or walk into Mobile Repair Factory at 87 Gibson Avenue, Padstow, with the phone backed up and your model noted. Back the phone up tonight, bring it in tomorrow, and expect to leave with it fixed.
FAQ
How much does it cost to get an iPhone 16 screen fixed?
The price depends on the part grade and on the model, with a firm figure given only after inspection. A genuine Apple part costs more than an OEM-grade OLED, which costs more than an aftermarket screen. The Pro and Pro Max displays are different parts from the 16 and 16 Plus, so they sit higher. Apple sets its own service fee the same way, after the phone has been looked at.
Can an iPhone 16 screen be fixed?
Yes, by replacing the display assembly as one unit. Cracks, dead touch, black screens and coloured lines are all fixed the same way, and the job is usually done in a single visit. The only things that change that are a bent frame, which stops the new assembly sitting flat, or board damage found once the phone is open. Both are quoted separately so you can decide before any work goes ahead.
Is it worth repairing an iPhone screen?
On an iPhone 16 series phone, yes in almost every case. The phone is among the most repairable iPhones, and the rest of the hardware, from the A18 chip to the cameras and battery, has years of use left. The exception is a phone with frame and board damage from the same drop. There the quote should be weighed against the phone’s trade-in value before you commit to the repair.
Can I replace just the glass on my iPhone?
Not in a standard repair. The glass, touch layer and OLED panel are bonded together as one display assembly, so a workshop swaps the whole unit. Glass-only refurbishment does exist, but it is a specialist process that separates the layers with heat and machinery. It is not a counter repair, and the time and risk involved make a full assembly the better choice for a single phone.
Do I need to back up my iPhone before a repair?
Yes, to iCloud or a computer the night before the visit. Hardware repairs do not intentionally erase data, but a damaged device always carries some risk, and a backup is the only way to remove it. A water-damaged phone is the one exception: do not connect it to a computer until it has been cleaned, because a wet port can short when plugged in.
Will Face ID still work after a screen replacement?
Yes, as long as the front sensor module is undamaged and transferred correctly to the new assembly. Face ID is tested before handover, so any problem shows up while you are still at the counter. A non-genuine display only adds an Unknown Part note under Parts and Service History. That note is a label on the settings screen and has no effect on whether Face ID unlocks the phone.
Can an iPhone 16 that went into salt water be saved?
Often, if it is powered off and brought in the same day for board cleaning. The IP68 rating covers fresh water under test conditions only, and salt water corrodes the board faster than fresh water does. Delay is the main reason a dunked phone is lost, because salt keeps eating at the contacts long after the outside is dry. Rinsing the outside with fresh water before you leave home can help.
